…on a mission to redefine what is possible in the hospitality industry, UnOrdinary Hospitality Group is building a unique platform for developing unique, modern, and creative concepts and operating partnerships.
UnOrdinary Hospitality was founded by Radovan Jankovic and Marko Bogdanovic, two friends who first crossed paths behind the bar and discovered a shared love for hospitality, design, and culture. What began as a dream quickly became our mission: to create restaurants that feel alive, intentional, and unforgettable - places that are not just about what’s on the plate or in the glass, but about the entire experience, from design and ambiance to music, energy, and the way a space makes people feel.
In 2019, we created Residents Café & Bar, which quickly became a neighborhood favorite and earned consecutive Michelin Bib Gourmand distinctions. After establishing its reputation, we sold the concept, our first successful exit, and the beginning of UnOrdinary Hospitality’s growth.
In 2023, we expanded into hotels with Mercy Me, entering directly into a full-scale food and beverage management partnership. From the start, our scope included the restaurant, cocktail bar, banquet events, in-room dining, and lobby service. We restructured and retrained a team of over 100 employees, established new HR systems to strengthen culture and accountability, and redesigned spaces within the hotel to better support weddings, conferences, and large-scale events. This project demonstrated our ability to oversee complex, multi-outlet hospitality ecosystems, not only managing operations at scale, but reimagining them to deliver cohesive, design-forward experiences across every guest touchpoint.
In 2024, we opened Bar Cana in Adams Morgan - our first standalone, fully owned project and a true expression of UnOrdinary’s independence. Inspired by the vibrancy of Brazil, Bar Cana was designed as more than a cocktail bar: it’s a cultural homage to Rio’s golden age, blending cachaça-driven drinks with bold design, music, and storytelling. Every detail, from the lighting and sound to the spirits, glassware, and textures, was chosen to transport guests and immerse them in the energy of a Brazilian boteco. Bar Cana is a celebration of culture and community, but also a statement of who we are as a group: creators of spaces built with intention, driven by design, and made to last.
Today, we continue to evolve, creating spaces meant not for fleeting trends but for decades to come. By weaving together food, beverage, design, music, and service, we build restaurants that feel alive, transport guests, and become part of the city’s fabric.

Radovan Jankovic
Founder
Originally from Bosnia, Radovan Janković arrived in the United States in 2012 through a business management exchange program. Raised in an entrepreneurial family, he carried with him a strong sense of ambition and a deep passion for food, which ultimately drew him to the restaurant industry. His first role as a food runner at Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak in the Four Seasons Hotel Georgetown gave him a foundation in quality, discipline, and the elevated standards of luxury hospitality.During the cocktail renaissance of the early 2010s, Radovan discovered a true calling in craft bartending. He refined his skills at the Rye Bar in the former Capella Hotel and at José Andrés’ celebrated Barmini, gaining invaluable experience in bar operations and hospitality innovation. These years shaped his approach to leadership, blending creativity, technical precision, and a relentless focus on the guest experience.
Radovan founded UnOrdinary Hospitality with the vision of creating concepts that combine artistry, culture, and community. As founder, he is known for developing innovative food and beverage programs and for bringing a creative lens to branding, photography, music, ambiance, and social media, ensuring every concept delivers an experience that goes beyond the plate or glass.
Radovan is also a partner in La Shukran, one of Washington, D.C.’s most dynamic bistros, where he collaborates with acclaimed chef Michael Rafidi and Michelin-rated sommelier William Simons. Together, they deliver bold flavors in a vibrant setting that redefines what it means to dine.
With his forward-thinking approach and commitment to excellence, Radovan continues to shape UnOrdinary Hospitality into a company recognized for its creativity, cultural depth, and memorable experiences.

Marko Bogdonovic
Co Founder
Born in Belgrade, Serbia, Marko Bogdanovic grew up in an entrepreneurial household where business, community, and hospitality were part of everyday life. Surrounded by family-run ventures and frequent gatherings centered on food and drink, he developed both a natural instinct for operations and an appreciation for the human side of hospitality.After graduating from Belgrade’s College of Hospitality and Tourism, Marko brought his ambition to Washington, D.C., where he quickly rose through the ranks of the city’s competitive restaurant scene. Early corporate experience gave him a foundation in structure and standards, while years behind the bar sharpened his ability to lead teams, build culture, and create memorable guest experiences.
Together with his partner Radovan Janković, Marko co-founded UnOrdinary Hospitality, a group dedicated to creating concepts that are intentional in design, rooted in cultural storytelling, and built to last. As COO, he oversees operations across multiple restaurants and bars, leading more than 100 employees with a focus on accountability, growth, and team-driven excellence.
Marko believes the future of hospitality lies in combining timeless guest connection with smart innovation. He embraces modern technology to streamline systems, automate processes, and increase efficiency and productivity, giving teams more space to focus on what matters most: people and experiences.
Above all, Marko sees hospitality as more than a transaction. To him, it is a feeling, one that should inspire both guests and the teams who serve them. His leadership has helped shape UnOrdinary Hospitality into a company that talented individuals seek out not just to work, but to grow, learn, and be part of something bigger.
